  1. Mues, i have no idea how you could have hated the last segment. It established two realistic and believable characters with clearly defined motivations, and made it very clear who was right and who was wrong. The quality of the delivery, especially considering that they would have no doubt been worried about Lawler’s condition, was brilliant as well.

    • How did it make clear who was right and who was wrong when everything Cena said about Punk’s character was bullshit. Plus, throwing a punch at Bret and cowering away was the equivalent of Punk getting on his knees and begging “BOO ME, PLEASE!!!!!” They brought in Heyman to try to give Punk an edge, but he never interacted with Cena. Punk isn’t getting over as a heel and Cena isn’t getting over as a face. It’s the same problem they had going into WM with The Rock.

      • Mues I’m gonna have to disagree with you. Everything Cena said about Punk was right. WWE gave CM Punk a golden brick road to super stardom, but he hasn’t lived up to expectations especially with that horrible 6-man tag match on December 2011 when RAW got it worst ratings since 1997.

  2. I think Tyson Kidd will win, maybe now win the title, but at least win the Battle Royal… At least he better win… He’s the best… #PushTysonKidd

  3. Fun fact (please correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly confident): The “Night of Champions” name and concept was originally created by Eric Bischoff for the final broadcast of WCW Monday Nitro. He announced it via a phone call on the second-to-last WCW Nitro as “something fitting for what very well could be the final night of pro wrestling on the Turner Networks”. AOL Time Warner had already decided a few weeks previous that March 26th, 2001 would be the last Monday Nitro as the show was going to be canceled to make way for other, non-wrestling programming. As a side note, at the time of Bischoff’s over-the-phone announcement (the second to last Nitro), the broadcasters (Tony Schiavone and Scott Hudson) were billing the final Monday Nitro broadcast (which, incidently, was Spring Breakout 2001) as the “Season Finale”, but the deal with WWE to offload the WCW asset from AOL Time Warner’s portfolio was finalized during the week leading up to the final broadcast; thus, we got the prodcut that we did that evening.

Anyway, in all the talk about “The Night of Champions”, not once have I heard anyone mention its origins. It was a WCW trademark, created on-the-fly by Bischoff for the final Monday Nitro on TNT. Just an interesting fact (to me, at least).
